The objectives are to develop power conversion, analog and digital electronics
for battery-operated, portable systems such as wireless communications,
portable computers, or implantable medical devices, where low power consumption
is a key performance criterion. Three approaches are pursued: (1) Energy-recovery
(adiabatic) digital VLSI with integrated power conversion; (2) switched-capacitor
dc-dc converters; (3) control and design techniques for PWM dc-dc converters
with synchronous rectification.
