Electrical and Computer Engineering Department
Senior Design Expo
At the end of every semester, an expo is held to demonstrate the projects that student teams have designed and built in the senior capstone course, ECEN 4610, as well as other senior lab courses such as ECEN 4517, Power Lab, and ECEN 1400, the freshman projects course.
The expo is widely attended by faculty, students, parents, and many representatives from local companies, as well as by the ECE Department Industrial Advisory Board members. The student teams demonstrate their projects and discuss the design work that went into the finished product.
Students in the two capstone courses form teams of three to five members and follow an industrial-type process during the semester while proposing, designing, building, and documenting their projects. They make formal presentations at a Preliminary Design Review during the third week of the semester and at a Critical Design Review in the sixth or seventh week. They are also responsible for meeting several milestones during the semester, similar to industry requirements. Their grade in the course is dependent on their projects functioning as promised at the time of expo.
For information on future expos, contact the ECE Front Desk at (303) 492-7327 or by email at ecefd@colorado.edu. The next Expo is scheduled for May 1, 2008.
